If you stop by every once in awhile, you might notice some changes in my profile. Additions, mostly...elaboration of ideas and new thoughts that I realize may give you more of a picture of who I am. In fact, my brain is going 90 to nothing as I try to get everything out at the same time. Consider this a work in progress for now....something I am as well.

As for my nickname I am and will probably always be a gamer girl...I spend most of my free time playing board games and card games, and love the strategy side of games as well as the fun with friends.

I am sure that my basic details will start to tell you who I am, but a few drop-down choices are nowhere near enough. I share a lot, but I also plan to leave a lot for you to ask...it will be interesting to see what you want to know. I am quite open and value honesty.

I love spending time with my friends, but lately have felt that something is missing. I really miss having that special someone to share things with - both the monumental and everyday occurences.

I used to think I wanted a more traditional relationship, but am open to discuss what works best for both people involved. I can tell you that I am at a place in my life where there is a lot I am working to change, and someone who wants a relationship would have to accept that. In return, I would promise to support and help my partner in any way I could.

In a literal sense, I am working, playing, improving, and relaxing...

I work for a small company, and wear many hats...

I also do seasonal work in the education field that I find very rewarding.

From an everyday standpoint, I have been playing around with several ideas for ways to change my life, but not acting on them as well as I could be. That is going to change soon, for better or worse.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained -- right?

I am doing a lot of reflection and self-introspection...asking myself if how I spend my time is being true to who I am and who I strive to be.

I have been making strides in my quest to conquer the pack rat in me....spring cleaning has been in full force, and I am starting to reclaim space around me and use it more effectively.

...baking cookies, helping friends, making plans, and being open to trying new things at least once.

I can be a good listener and very supportive when I want to be, and I tend to open up easily to people I hardly know. I am also an excellent rambler when I talk, and if I have the time, a conversation may hit three or four topics before all is said and done. Those who know me have full permission to stop me if they want the cliff-notes version. :)

Procrastinating, though that is one I would be happy to see come off the list. Oh, and I used to be really good at Text Twist on my phone, but have a new phone and have yet to install it.

Finally, I am really good at putting other people first. This is both a blessing and a curse...so finding a balance is something I hope to get better at.

I haven't taken a poll recently...so maybe I should ask and find out.

A - I have not been reading as much as I want to this year, but I have made a goal to begin rereading the classics. Some are ones I loved in school, others are ones I missed out on....seems being in the gifted program meant I skipped over some literature and that surprises people. Right now it is Fahrenheit 451, with a few lined up after it.

As for books I tend to reread every year or two, His Bright Light remains one of my favorites. I have also recently been reading The Order of the Stick, though it is not what I typically classify as a "book".

I typically always have something non-fiction or very light that I can pick up when I have a short time to read.

B - So many...The Illusionist, The Prestige, Suicide Kings, 10 Things I Hate About You, Knocked Up, Year of the Dog, and Never Been Kissed. I love '80s movies, and could watch them over and over (and probably have) -- including Clue, The Princess Bride, Breakfast Club, Weird Science, Hiding Out, The Goonies, Sixteen Candles, Ferris Bueller, and Pretty in Pink.

C - I like almost everything. Musicians who perform multiple songs I enjoy are: OK Go, Erasure, Chicago, Snow Patrol, Alanis Morissette, Depeche Mode, da vinci's notebook, David Bailey, Karen Mal, and Enigma.

More relevant that the name of a band or two that I like is the fact that I am happiest with an eclectic mix of music....I may not know who sings many of the songs I like, but I KNOW what I like when I hear it.

I listen to everything from classical to classic rock, the current to the oldies, club music and more.

My radio presets vary widely and the buttons get a lot of use. When I cannot decide, I usually end up flipping through stations after every song. I really want XM in my car....

One of my favorite artists is Karen Mal. I jump at the opportunity to see her perform live locally, and her music is as impressive as she is.

My favorites are the songs that remind me of a movie, a friend, or an experience...creating memories with music is an experience I cannot get enough of.

Most recently, I was serenaded with a few moments of Sinatra....and both the serenader and the song created a wonderful memory I won't soon forget.

D - Food is something that I can be picky about even though I like a large variety. Chocolate, Tex-Mex, Chinese, Italian, and comfort/home-cooked food are but a few of my favorites.

Extra thought - Some favorite t.v. shows are The Big Bang Theory, Desperate Housewives, Law & Order SVU, Biggest Loser, Thank God You're Here, Dinner Impossible and Ace of Cakes. I also find myself watching more documentaries and nonfiction lately.

Only six? Really?

1. Friends and Family - For so many reasons...

2. Games - A variety of some of the best, including my favorites and new games I have yet to discover. I would want to have strategy games and word games, board and card games, party games, and especially those that involve hours of thought. For me, I love the challenge and competition, but more important than winning is the chance to use my brain and spend time with friends.

3. Books - I love the fact that reading offers so many things...an escape from reality, new knowledge, a chance to develop or reconsider perspectives, the opportunity to discover both simple and complex ideas, and an appreciation for life that cannot be easily found elsewhere. Information, education, imagination, introspection, empathy for others and an escape from life are all found between the pages....

4. Music - Listening to music is an experience that I often take for granted. But I could much more easily live without my sight than without my hearing. Musical selections change with occasion, mood, environment, companions, and purpose, but I am rarely without it.

5. Conversation - From the deep to the everyday, I love to share ideas with people. It is a balance of talking and listening, sharing and taking it in...and it is something that many of us could improve upon. Nevertheless, I cannot imagine life without it.

Last, but definitely not least...

6. Kissing - There is nothing sexier, arousing, or more intimate than long, deep, passionate kisses. There are a LOT of things I love to do alone with a man but kissing is a must...

...ways to change my life for the better. And how much I love challenges, but have not been seeking them out as often as I used to...

I find myself thinking about who I am as a single, and who I am when in a relationship. I realized recently I am different in ways I had never given much thought to before...not necessarily better or worse....merely different.

Getting back into the geocaching hobby. I am really starting to wonder why my interest in it always seems to renew as summer is getting into full swing. I wish it were closer to when fall is waltzing in.....because make no mistake, I am not a fan of being outdoors for long without a really good reason when the temps and humidity are this high.

And lately, what I REALLY want in a relationship has filled a lot of my thought time.

I also spend more time than I realize thinking about honesty. It is interesting that there seems to be some sort of relationship between how long you know someone and how much honesty is acceptable. I really used to just let loose and share very openly, but it seems that for some people too much truth too fast scares them.

So this begs a question: how much is too much when it comes to honesty? Or perhaps honesty is just another character trait that people's preferences vary on...maybe some of us want honesty more than others of us do?

...probably with friends playing games or at a movie, unless I am working. I am more of a strategy board game player than anything, though I also enjoy social party games when the mood strikes.

Or playing WoW....yes, I am now slightly addicted thanks to my friends. :)

I have been giving this one a lot of thought. So here is a fun fact about me, along with something more personal and serious:

For one, I will admit I am one of THOSE PEOPLE who sings in the car. Wholeheartedly.

I think there are those people who love to sing out loud and express themselves when a great song is playing, and then those that would laugh if they saw me in traffic, really getting into the music. Which one are you?

Secondly, I will share something that is quite personal, yet is also something I share openly about with people around me. What I am sharing is brief, but I welcome any questions about the topic.

I was diagnosed almost ten years ago with bipolar disorder. (For those that care, most professionals have agreed that my specific diagnosis is rapid-cycling bipolar II disorder.)

I am very fortunate in many ways, and I count my overall health a blessing every day. However, there are times when life is less than stellar. As I have shared in other parts of my profile, I believe strongly in being open, honest, and forthcoming...

There are going to be people who read this and decide not to contact me because of what I am sharing...and I respect their right to make that decision. Mental health issues still carry some undeserved stigma, so it speaks volumes to me when I get to experience how a person reacts to the concept.

I welcome the chance to share anything with anyone who wants to know more, and in fact, I look very forward to seeing what might come from getting to know the people who read this and look deeper.

Oh, and people who already know me are surprised when I share this with them. Those who spend a lot of time with me might realize it is a part of my life, but it is not obvious most of the time. Therapy and medication are invaluable, along with support of family and friends.
