Yo ho ho, and a bottle of rum. Only I don't really like rum, but I do love my pirate hat. Actually, I kind of liked that Captain Morgan's spiced rum stuff.
I'm a different breed of pirate. I don't have the proper pirate way of speaking, or so I've been told. But that's fine by me - I've never been one to conform to normalcy. If it's different, I'm there, but only if I really like it too. I might add that pure pressure has absolutely zero effect on me. The more someone pressures me to do something I don't want to do, the harder I will resist.
I'm religiously dedicated to justice. My moral compass is very firmly ingrained in my brain and I can't live with a guilty conscious, so if I feel that something is wrong, I won't do it. I know well the difference too. I couldn't help it if I tried, which is a good thing in the end. I want to do the right thing and I will always try to.
I'm a multi-faceted personality - I like doing things. I'm mostly artistically oriented (writing, drawing, music), but I'm not at all adverse to physical activity. I enjoy sports, both participating in and watching (mainly football where the latter is concerned). I work for my dad as a back packer on guided hunting trips, all of which are hike-ins, so I'm used to working hard. I'm also working for Fish and Game as a permanent seasonal employee and I love it. I get to be outdoors and active, all while earning some money.
What I really have my heart set on is writing books and becoming a helicopter pilot. I just started taking flying lessons towards the end of November. It's costing me a boat load, but...if I can keep it up at this pace, I should have my private sometime in February. I love flying helicopters - it's the most wonderful feeling in the world.
Staying in good shape is extremely important to me, despite some of the trouble I've had with that over the years. I take a lot of pride in being an active person and working out. I want to look the best that I can and be healthy, but I have trouble with depression too, which can be somewhat counterproductive. I do a lot of jogging, four miles five days a week when I have time. I've had to shorten that with work taking up the majority of my week, but I still get in a good three days at minimum. I also lift weights.
I will hunt for my food until the day that I die, should that day ever come (hehe). Most of our food comes from wild game that we hunt ourselves. Don't get me wrong, I like my vegetables and my fruits too, but meat is the staple of my diet. Nature made me a carnivorous omnivore, no doubt about it, and that's the way I'm going to be. I'm also a wildlife conservationist - I believe strongly in preserving and protecting wildlife and wilderness habitat. I love and respect both the land and the animals I share it with.
I live at home with my family still (mom, dad, and a brother whose ten years older than me). Some people are guided by the misconception that living at home at my age is bad, but this is home and I love it very much. There's nowhere else I'd rather be and as long as my family will have me, I'm here. We're very close and I get homesick easily. Not to mention the cost of living has risen so much it's not worth it to try and find a place of my own. I wouldn't enjoy being alone anyway.
So I'm still at home in rural Alaska, 27 miles from the nearest town, surrounded by some pretty cool mountains.
Hmmm, what else is there about me... Well, I'm a very emotional person. It's something that gets on my nerves occasionally because I can't control it, but I feel strongly about things. So, it's not all bad. I think it's good to have passion, as long as you don't go overboard with it.
I love dragons. They're the closest thing I have to a religion. They've always struck a special chord ever since I was a child. It's hard to describe, but they are very important to me - a talisman that I always carry.
In addition, I love video games when I have time (I also love spiders because they eat insects), I have a Norwegian Elkhound named Odin, two cats (Mr. Voo and Ra), and two horses (Willow, who's a Morgan, and her daughter Snap Dragon, who is a Morgan/Arabian cross). I am exceptionally fond of my pets and I wish that I had a goat.
As for sports, I played basketball for much of my youth, started soccer in 9th grade and played varsity in 11th grade, but didn't come back for my 12th, and I started playing hockey last year, but haven't gotten back into the rink because of gas prices (looong way for me to drive just to skate, though I wish I could). I love to play football though - that would be my favorite sport. Also, I did correspondence all throughout High School, and while I didn't attend publicly, I was permitted to play sports at any school of my choice in the valley.
I started music when I was five because my grandmother was a teacher - she and my grandfather were founding members of the Anchorage Symphony here in Alaska. She taught me violin and gave me a few piano lessons. I taught myself later how to play flute and can play piano somewhat efficiently, but it takes me a long time to learn a song. I also dabbled a bit with the trumpet.
Anything more you'd like to know, feel free to ask. I'll answer any questions, no matter how personal, as long as they're well-meant.
